Amber Ellering Joins the Guild Board of Directors

The Forest Stewards Guild welcomes Amber Ellering of St. Paul, Minnesota as the newest member of the Guild's Board of Directors.  Amber works as a Forest Policy Analyst for Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry.  She has over ten years of professional experience in forest management and policy work.  Amber began her career as a forester, managing state forestlands in rural northern Minnesota.  Beyond timber harvest design and administration, she was responsible for wildfire response, private landowner outreach, and forest inventory. She specialized in Ecological Classification Systems applications for foresters, helping to expand implementation of new tools for ecological management.

Amber recently completed six years of service as an elected member of the Forest Stewards Guild’s Membership and Policy Council, serving as vice-chair, chair, and liaison to the board of directors during her tenure. She is concluding her third year on the board of directors for the Alumni Society of her alma mater, University of Minnesota College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Sciences. She chairs the sponsorship committee of this society and participates in other society activities such as mentoring students.

Amber shared these thoughts before being voted onto the board, "The Forest Stewards Guild is an important organization to me; one that I have come to know and love through volunteering as a member leader over the last several years. Working for the Forest Stewards Guild provides fulfilling connections with inspiring people, and always challenges me to develop my ideas further."

In her free time, Amber can be found reading, socializing with friends and family, running, biking for transportation and recreation, cross-country skiing, crewing a j-24 sailboat, and adventuring in new terrain.
