The Tennessee Chapter of the Nature Conservancy seeks an energetic conservationist for the position of Conservation Forester to strengthen the Chapter’s Forest Conservation Program. Leads forest management planning and communications with private and public landowners, and implementation of forest inventories and certification across the Chapter’s Forest Conservation Program. Assists with developing and monitoring carbon projects to support the Working Woodlands Program and our future strategic climate strategies. Leads operations and management of the Tennessee Chapter’s Preserve, the Bridgestone Nature Reserve at Chestnut Mountain.

Responsibilities and scope

  • Timely completion of responsibilities and deliverables.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions based on analysis, experience and judgment.
  • Work within/manage a budget to complete projects, negotiate and oversee contracts with vendors, and assist with budget development and grant management.        
  • Develop methods and implement forest inventories and carbon opportunity summaries for private and public landowners. 
  • Conduct forest and ecological inventories and develop certified forest management plans for private landowners, partners and TNC preserves.
